JON ARMSTRONG: COMIC AMAZEMENT review

Jon Armstrong presents a clean, sharp, fun hour of clever magic. Concentrating on fairly intimate, close-up shenanigans. He brings a sincere air of levity and sense of humor to the show. One of his strengths is making the audience feel relaxed and yet completely engaged. Totally charming and highly baffling at times, what Jon Armstrong does is make you believe some things in this world are truly magical.

MONSTER BEAUTIFUL: THE MUSICAL review

A horror-themed musical featuring some very fine vocal talent, this show had some moments of fun but was eventually brought down by an identity crisis.

This show does not know what it wants to be or what story it wishes to tell.

A HARMONY BOYS CHRISTMAS review

A strong cast of voices delivers original tunes that brought down the house with innuendo and cliché, perfectly undone by choreography that seems innocent but manages to undermine the wholesome image we are watching.

ILLUSION OF CHOICE: A MAGICAL EXPERIENCE WITH KARDENNI review

Kardenni is a charming presence with obvious keen improvisation skills. His interaction with the audience is always engaging. The show is described as “a magical experience,” but when you examine what is performed there is actually very little magic… but there is a healthy dose of interesting philosophy on display among the choices of envelopes or cards or which hand something is hidden in.

SLASHED! THE MUSICAL review

With a brief running time of 45 minutes, this is begging to be expanded! Complete fun from start to finish, with songs you will leave humming, this love letter to (primarily) Friday the 13th will warm the freshly cut out and still beating heart of any horror nerd.

THE PHYSICISTS review

The acting in this show is superb and has many comedic moments. How could you not when you have people thinking they’re someone else? Also, there is a live music component which adds a really nice feel to this show. Anytime you have live music instead of prerecorded music, it definitely adds another element to the show.

This show has a few major plot twists and just when you think you know the full story…BAM….another twist and turn. This show will have you guessing until the very end and nothing is at it seems.

SWEET DREAMS: THE PROLOGUE review

Shine On’s strengths are numerous and include the ability to take an average setting and tweak it just enough to create a magical shift in time and space. That happens here, even in a show of such short length. When I left, I felt the urge to know more and I intend to follow this story into the larger offerings later in the year.

THE BIRTHING PIT review

This show is one of the hidden gems at Fringe. A Gothic romance story set at the end of the Revolutionary War that makes you think about love and responsibility. The exchanges between John (played by Jensen Chambers) and Castella (played by Maia Kazin) are heartfelt and at times, heartbreaking.
