Five Pieces of Paper: Stories My Hungarian Grandmother Refused to Tell Me and Other Family Tales

Moti is telling a true story of a horrible time that his loved one went through. He adds in humorous anecdotes from his childhood and uses puppets to tell the worst parts, which lightens the heaviness, but only barely. You really can see from a Holocaust survivor’s view through his story-telling.

I also liked how he baked a cake through the course of the show and offered it and wine afterwards 👍

DROUGHT

This show was, point blank, amazing! The music was its own character in the poignant storytelling of Cainus. The unique musical looping in with the point being made-that so many females feel it would be easier to be a man in this world, and how that’s not okay. The story itself is a great, thought-provoking and emotional tale, but the music and singing added to it makes it 1000x more palpable.

50 Shades of Melania

An interesting, unique, intelligent comedy about the FLOTUS. Makes you seriously wonder what goes on behind closed doors and inside Melania’s head. I loved the many different skits and acting styles used to tell the story.

HOLLYWOODN'T

What a sad truth this show portrays: it’s hard for anyone to make it in the Hollywood business, but Lisa tells what it’s like to be wanted for looks and sex, not for talent. This show was funny, truthful, and insightful on what it’s like to pursue the actors dream.

THE HUMAN[OID] EXPERIENCE

Such a unique look at the future: what would robots (aka humanoids) feel if they were to have human emotion. It slightly reminiscent of Bicentennial Man, but unique in its humorous take on life in general. The simplistic/straightforward thinking of a robot compared to the complicated feelings of emotion a human feels and goes through every day. It was humorous, but very thought-provoking as well. It’s surprisingly believable, the way society is going, that humans would be more comfortable confiding in robots than to other people when going through difficulties.

Human Fountains

A show for all ages to enjoy. The show is comedic and has many different “stories” to it. The three gentlemen work together seamlessly for a good-natured, funny and enjoyable time.

IF TRUTH BE TOLD

A humorous but truthful skit. It’s very relatable, as we all have things we didn’t admit to at the time, but may be willing to talk about later. Jennifer is a great storyteller and along with the laugh out loud humor, there is realism, relatability, and truth in the presentation.

Public Domain: The Musical

This show was very funny and original. For a half hour show, there was a great variety of songs included. It makes you laugh the whole time and the songs get stuck in your head.

Loose Underwear

Dagmar is a true artist and performer. She goes through so many emotions in this 1 hour show that you as an audience member feel like you have loved her life through her. Very well done.

My Trans Wife

I’m constantly learning new things by seeing and hearing what people have to deal with from society as a whole for being who they are. This show was another example of that. This couple is telling and showing the audience what it is like being in a relationship such as theirs-from family drama to society expectations and beyond. It’s one of those stories to you find yourself thinking “oh, I never thought of that”-as in difficulties transgender individuals go through that non-transgender individuals never think twice about. The two women are incredible, and lovely to chat with as well 🙂

Scarlett Fever

What an amazing show! It mixes dance, music, spoken lines, and and singing perfectly. It was a non-stop enjoyment for all the senses. It also has just the right amount of audience interaction where it’s not so much where it’s uncomfortable, but just enough that you feel like part of the show. The melodies and beats kept me tapping my foot and wanting to get up and dance with the cast. It was so very unique and very well done.

#CANCELLED: The Play

This look into how social media and being popular or famous is very relevant today. So many people are being exposed for their faults, some much needed to know, some so frivolous, it’s crazy to think you can lose your status so easily. This show was comedic, and brought out lots of laughs, and the song is catchy 👌, but it also shows the positives but more importantly the negatives of social media and social status. The mix of all the elements were done very well.

POCKETS

Pockets was original with a taste of familiarity-there were definite hat-tips to some well-known musicals (Les Miz for one). The music, singing, dancing, and acting were all done seamlessly and the cast worked with each other so well. It was a great laugh consistently throughout.

(IM)PERFEKT

It tells how society has made standards so hard to obtain and even harder when something you are not in control of happens to you and you lose something (like your hair) and suddenly are conceived as completely different. It also shows how perseverance and self-worth can pull you through and help you achieve that normalcy and success we all strive for.

A brave storyteller showing the audience what it was like to transition from a society standard “normal” girl to one that loses something that makes society accept women: her hair. It was quirky, funny, imaginative, sad, uplifting, and so many other things.
