Thoroughly Modern Millie

Fabulous singing, skilled comedy, adroit dancing and a crackerjack jazz band are the highlights of Studio C Performing Arts' staging of “Thoroughly Modern Millie,” now playing at the Simi Valley Cultural Arts Center. This production is so meticulously and excellently performed that it could be transplanted onto an off-Broadway stage and nobody would know that it was being presented by a community theater company.

“Inspecting Carol” doesn't go as far as Frayn's classic, whose cataclysmic middle act is like a troupe of circus performers juggling flaming torches, but “Carol” is still a hoot, poking fun at such politically correct norms as multicultural casting and socially conscious mores.
