Olivia Wilde Does Not Survive The Apocalypse

This show was great. I loved it! One of my top 3 shows of the Fringe (I've seen a lot this year). They won the well deserved Best Comedy of the Fringe and I am so glad. It's a well though out and clever script, supported by talented actors and great directing. Bravo!

The Color Collective

What a fun show! Awesome sketch ideas and really funny people involved. This is such a great showcase of different talent and of course it's awesome that there is so much diversity. I loved the first sketch with the stand off especially as well as the game show about what ethnicity someone is ("the answer is always American"). The singer and comedian were a nice addition as well. The show is well written as a whole and Royce is a great producer; so happy for him and the cast.

FERTILE: A Conversation About the Expectation of Procreation

This one woman show is so important and so well written and well acted. I was extremely impressed with how honest it was in the difficulties some women face in trying to get pregnant or even deciding if they should have children. There were also many comedic moments. Heather Dowling is so talented; she was able to portray multiple characters and fully commit to each one and they were all distinct enough so no one would get confused, the script was strong and realistic as well as entertaining and the main character relatable. I was completely drawn in and engaged the whole time! I laughed, I cried, I was very moved and it has made me think a lot about society's emphasis on women and pregnancy.

To Richard!

A powerful and thought provoking script that is done justice by the two actors: Jessica Moreno and Nicky Romaniello. With a minimal (yet sufficient) set, the two actors create a whole world within their story and connect with one another in a short amount of time on stage. Moreno is superb as an actress and writer - and it should be noted she also produced AND directed this show. She's so damn good. Moreno has previously performed in a bunch of Fringe shows both in Hollywood and in Edinburgh, having won Most Unleashed Actress in 2016 in Hollywood as well as an Encore producer award, and it's no wonder why; she could surely scoop up some awards for any or all of the above talents. Nicky Romaniello plays Andrew with ease; his portrayal is so natural. The script is interesting, realistic, clever and even has moments of comedy that arise organically even though the script is about mourning someone. Honestly, I could go on forever about it, I am still thinking about this show days after the performance.

If We Run

This new play from Matt Morillo has a lot of funny, light moments that allow you to follow Rachel and Brian into the night and eventually learn about their past and who they are individually. Both Katie Oliver and Dingani Beza make their Fringe Debut and each deliver solid performances. They both KNOW who their characters are in the past, in the present and in the future – as much as anyone in real life can predict their future selves. Emily Lappi’s directing is smooth and works in the best interest of the actors, as if she has known these two characters for the ten or so years that they were together. Each person involved in this show has put in the work and it shows.
