Edgar Allan Poe

As a fan of Edgar Allen Poe from a very young age, I was delighted to see three of his most famous works come to life through the exquisitely expressive Duffy Hudson. Hudson expertly balances his own connection to the works of Poe in a fun out-of-character introduction, Poe’s brief telling of his life story, and Poe’s recreation of his works. Hudson creates a version of Poe that is both entertaining and melancholy, much like the characters Poe created. With a sparse set only used for the introduction, attention is appropriately focused on the perfect showman; Hudson breathes life into the famous author’s tales and leaves the audience wanting more.

FRANKENSTEIN

Instead of a “standard” proscenium show, it thrusts guests head-first into the story by keeping them on their feet – and sometimes on their toes with fright… Zombie Joe has created yet another moving production that holds audiences captive, brings them to the verge of insanity, and hopefully back out the other side.

God: The Apologies Tour

Coming from a Catholic high-school background, but currently identifying as a non-believer, I found God: The Apologies Tour refreshing and peaceful. The fears and uncertainties that humanity faces on a daily basis are brought to the forefront, finessed and made relatable to current, everyday life. Updating antiquated ideas for modern audiences and infusing them with humor and love, Blair and his cast provide engaging versions of the Creator that I can definitely get behind. God: The Apologies Tour is a beautifully honest and rewarding exploration of free will and interacting with the divine.

Manson’s Girls

Manson’s Girls is a chilling story made all too human through a fantastic production. Each of the women are clearly defined and instantly relatable; the actresses excel in their performances. Charles Manson’s menacing presence, while not always on stage, is apparent in each of their doting eyes. The well-rounded and beautiful score is full of thought-provoking lyrics, even the cheeky song-and-dance number “Help Yourself.” The production is an absolutely fascinating and remarkable exploration into what it means to lose one’s identity in someone else.

Doctor Zomba’s Ghost Show of Terror

With it’s inclusion of comedy, magic, ventriloquism, a dance number, and a seance, Dr. Zomba’s Ghost Show of Terror! really excels in its effects, including a standout blackout sequence. Written by David Lucarelli and directed by Kevin Wetmore, Dr. Zomba’s Ghost Show of Terror! is a campy good time, custom-made for the horror kids that delight in toying with the otherworldly and metaphysical.
