The best show in town is going to end it's three week run this weekend. The show is "To Dad With Love" starring Kiki Ebsen and it tells the story in song, story, and dance of Buddy Ebsen, his seven decade career and his life with his family.
If you enjoyed Breakfast At Tiffany's, Davy Crockett, the Beverly Hillbillies, Barnaby Jones, or if you want to hear the real story about the Wizard of Oz, you will love this beautiful theater piece.
The music is supplied by a terrific Jazz ensemble. The vocals of classic songs associated with Buddy Ebsen are performed by Kiki Ebsen -- and they are knockouts. Buddy himself can be seen hoofing and singing with the likes of Eleanor Powell, Judy Garland, Barbara Stanwyck, and Shirley Temple thanks to the multimedia by Dustin Ebsen.
There is even some tappin' by Kiki and Gregory Gast stepping in for Buddy in a particularly touching moment.
But, most of all it is a journey as Kiki brings us along on a look back on her relationship with a complex, talented man. It all adds up to a magical experience in the theater.
There are tickets available for the shows at 8PM Friday, Sept. 20; 8 PM Saturday, and the final performance at 2 PM Sunday from the ticket services and the Theater West Box Office.
I will be attending the Sunday show. It's just too great, I have to see it again.
