Publicist: Shanara Sanders

This Chicago native stormed onto the Los Angeles Theater Center stage as a singing Royal Translator, in 60 shows of Disney's Aladdin, Dual Language Edition. She is creator of her podcast and YouTube series, "ASK A BLACK WOMAN". Since 2017, she's been recording stimulating, impromptu street convos with non-Black people. "ASK A BLACK WOMAN- ONE WOMAN SHOW" premiers in the 2019 Hollywood Fringe Festival on June 9. This multi-faceted creator is also an A.C.E. certified group fitness instructor. She dropped the dance hit “U Cute but Do U Juke?” with DJ Slugo (available on all platforms) in 2018. Her #CuteJukeChallenge choreography tookover Los Angeles for the L.A. County Parks After Dark Series, at the same time as the song. She also teaches her dance fitness class, "JukeOut with Ms. Shay" at studio pop ups and corporate events. Shanara is a singing femcee, writer and actress. She gained popularity as “The MouthPeace”, ( well deserved, due to her stage credits, voiceovers and radio personality roles). She has won 4 Chicago grants to finance her music projects. Her signature style balances singing and spoken word with obvious hip hop and jazz undertones, but her pen has stretched to gospel, country and even jingles.

No More Toys

In the context of an all too familiar classroom gun hostage scenario, we are thrust into a jarring reality check of what it's like being a teen in urban America. Though you may initially root for the obvious protagonist(s), the deeper reflection is do you demonize or humanize the "apparent antagonist"? Luis REALLY had a great mix of visceral anger, anguish and neurotic sinister mental gymnastics in his performance. I wanted to punch him and pray for him at the same time. I appreciated the diversity in casting as well as the diversity in characters and subplots. Every character certainly held their own.

Bunny the Elf LIVE!

A breath of fresh air! The joy of Christmas in June is really possible. A refreshing introspective on how to take the metaphorical fruitcake of purposelessness and create the delicious life you really want, making your everyday rich like the holiday. Christi has boundless energy in performance. Her creative storyline is takes some great twists as she takes us through what it's really like working during the holiday season in a major retailer. The determination and fortitude of Bunny while encountering some ulterior motives and inappropriate behaviors of people in the business balances this piece and makes it real. The costume changes and stage decor were also adorable. I can totally see this show turned into a Christmas tv movie!

FERTILE: A Conversation About the Expectation of Procreation

A balanced, well written theatrical performance on a fragile and important conversation about the agency of women's bodies. Entertaining and educating all at once. A must see for all genders, ages and socioeconomic backgrounds. Heather is a masterclass in multiple character performance. I was cracking up and could relate to all the scenarios and most characters. I could tell this was written from an authentic place.

If We Run

CHIIILE! This sexy show will allure you right from the start. But don't get wrapped up in that too tough. This story will have you re-evaluating your whole life. (Cue "What You Won't Do For Love by Bobby Caldwell here:-). This is truly a grown folx show in every way. Matt wrote his tail off for this play. The casting was on point visually and they worked their roles with the passion and sensual elegance of two professional rumba dancers. This is most def a couples convo starter here. Cop tix for bae or boo, or heck your bestie for Encore asap, so y'all can get on with your best love life!

Leaving Prince Charming

The dynamic Lara strategically woos you in with her sweet/coy allure a la Tinkerbell style in the beginning. It starts off with girl next door, middle class Christian foundation. You know, most of us bought into the princess in waiting Disney package... Then she rips the "holy veil" off in her exploration of young adulthood. Lara is a superb actress with an extremely important message that must be heard. I highly recommend bringing your teenage girls to this, to hear "the cool older cousin" school them on what a healthy romantic relationship is and isn't (without being preachy). Stop reading this now and cop her Encore tix!

A Bit Much

A witty take on this age old issue that women have to dim our light and falsely represent ourselves, in order to massage the male ego. Stacy’s show demonstrates how ridiculous we all look when we buy into this lie. The scenarios are a perfect combo of humiliating and hilarious. I appreciate the transparency, and how I saw younger self in so many of these scenes.

Chrissy Meth ~ A Dance with the Devil and a Journey Back to Self

YOU CAN OVERCOME! This show is a testament to the power of GOD and human will to triumph over abandonment and one of the toughest addictions on the planet. You will also understand how essential family is, that it is where you make it. You will learn that familial bonds are established within the drug culture, where addicts feel loved, supported, and celebrated. You should leave with compassion as a response towards that relative or friend that struggles, not judgment. You will get a glimpse into how the cycle of rejection and lack of worth perpetuates itself in a vicious cycle, if it goes unchecked. Crystal is a courageous and outstanding storyteller, as well as a phenomenal actress. YOU MUST SEE THIS AND BRING A FRIEND!

To Richard!

This is REAL LIFE. An unlikely encounter between strangers that turns out to be just what both of them needed. The healing you need is not convenient and shows up at the damnedest time. I feel like Nas’s “All I Need Is One Mic” is appropriate here because the setting is simple but the writing and performance hit hard like sweet 16 bars. School is in session and I’m here to learn! GO SEE THIS! As a matter of fact, whenever Jessica puts out anything, I’m copping a ticket coz this show exhibits the caliber of what she brings is always at a high level.
