Delusion: The Blue Blade

The story was concise and easy to follow, the set design was exquisite with an insane amount of attention to detail, and the performances were believable and engaging, with the performers making sure all those who enter got the most out of their experience. Overall, THE BLUE BLADE is a show that must not be missed,…

One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest

As for the show itself, I was enthralled with what transpired – from the acting, to the set design, to the interaction with the audience, and everything in-between. Director Jonathan Muñoz-Proulx did a fantastic job of bringing Dale Wasserman’s adaptation to life while completely immersing the audience… Overall, ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOO’S NEST is an absolute must-see. It’s perfect for people who want to dip their toe into immersive while still catering to those who are more seasoned. In terms of a theatrical performance, this was top notch in both the acting and execution of the production, allowing the audience to feel as though they are part of the show without having too much of a spotlight on them.

Lights Out in the Hermit’s Cave

…this is a fun, small production that brings life the feeling of sitting in a radio studio of yesteryear.  There are a few hiccups along the way, but they are easy enough to fix and my quibbles are far outweighed by the strength of the cast.  Fans of modern radio podcasts like The Thrilling Adventure Hour, the more well-known radio plays of the past, or those who just want to see some solid performances should give this a look.

Doctor Zomba’s Ghost Show of Terror

…this was an amusing throwback that captured the simple feel of the shows of yesteryear.  The humor walked the line between high and low, but worked mostly because of the knowing wink given to us by our wonderful master of ceremonies.  Fans of horror hosts like Elvira or movies like The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975) will find this to be of a similar ilk.

God: The Apologies Tour

The show was thought provoking in the way it emphasized how human beings have an effect on the divine and mankind creating this circular view of connection and causality. There appeared to be some Neil Gaiman influences that could have been expanded on and developed further but were a nice easter egg for American Godsfans.

Wood Boy Dog Fish

All in all, this is a fantastic reinterpretation of Mr. Collodi’s novel that manages to feel unique. The whole thing has a nice contemporary feel thanks to the wonderfully dark production values. Fans of theater or The Adventures of Pinocchio should definitely give this a look.

Monsters Come Out At Night

I felt as though MONSTERS COME OUT AT NIGHT really spoke to me in a more personal way than previous shows. I’ve always been open about my own demons and I felt like this show really embraced that idea.

URBAN DEATH TOUR OF TERROR: Haunted Theatre Attraction!

Make note that it does have to do with a lot of adult content and subject matter that may be unsuitable for children and/or is triggering. With that said, I would urge all of you in the Southern California area to check out the show and experience a performance unlike anything else. It’ll rock you, it’ll change you, and you’ll leave wanting more.

Fire & Light

These shows, which are part of The Firelight Collective and are created and directed by Stephanie Feury and Nathan Keyes, were beautifully tragic and left me with tears in my eyes.

URBAN DEATH

Z.J.U., or Zombie Joe’s Underground Theater, is one of the best spots to experience unique, one-of-a-kind performance art under the broad umbrella of horror. I have been attending shows at ZJU for the past year or so, and each time I leave, I’m left speechless and amazed. With that said, their latest adaptation of their successful “Urban Death” series has quickly become one of my favorites and I’m still sitting here days afterward trying to wrap my head around all that unfolded.
