“Inspecting Carol” doesn't go as far as Frayn's classic, whose cataclysmic middle act is like a troupe of circus performers juggling flaming torches, but “Carol” is still a hoot, poking fun at such politically correct norms as multicultural casting and socially conscious mores.

Unfortunately the show's weakness cannot be helped by any of these talented cast and crew members. Yes, the show is funny and riddled with sight gags, theatre jokes, and irreverent jokes where nothing is sacred... However, whereas Carol is a story of redemption and love, I could not quite decipher what might be Inspecting Carol's overarching theme and moral lesson.

There are bountifully ridiculous lines and scenes, played by a cast that for the most part can keep an audience at the Hillcrest Center for the Arts in Thousand Oaks laughing.

It's never too early for Christmas, and Thousand Oaks has a certain crispness in the air already, however, this is a very short run so down dawdle and get a move on to the Hillcrest Center for The Arts in Thousand Oaks.
