Directed by award-winning filmmaker Samantha Lavin, Key Change comes during a pivotal time for female empowerment in the entertainment industry. This powerful one-act by Catrina McHugh is the story of real women living their lives behind bars. We see the love, the heartache and the challenge that each of these women face on a daily basis as they participate in the telling of each other's stories. Key Change originally toured in male prisons throughout England before officially premiering at Edinburgh Festival Fringe and then making its US Premiere Off-Broadway. There, it received the highest accolade, the New York Times Critics Pick. This all-female cast includes Sarah Navratil (Stargate Origins), Maryfrances Careccia (How to Get Away with Murder) as Angie, Courtney Nichole (Snowfall) as Kim, Bridget Garwood as Kelly, and Anita Davenport as Lorraine.

"A very interesting way to explain the twist of events, which was eye opening. Definitely worth seeing again."

"I strongly recommend this important play. I attended opening night and I could not have been more impressed by the talented cast, artful direction and precise choreography. I was overwhelmed with emotion, especially during scenes which depicted the hard circumstances the women came from. Proceeds benefit a local women's sober house. There are only a few performances left. GO!"

"A brilliant and empowering performance by Sarah Navratil and all the talented cast members. I couldn't look away for one second. They were all in sync and listening to each other's energy. The generosity in emotions was breathtaking. I mostly fell in love with the directing; I felt that Samantha Lavin had purpose with every move and every gesture and it was all springing from a place of truth and the heart. The simplicity of the set made it even more powerful and the light change was gorgeous; it accompanied the mood of the moment subtly yet significantly. I'm so grateful to have experienced this touching piece. I might be returning for closing night. Thank you team!"

"As a clinical therapist I found this show to be empowering for both men and women. The emotional journey the show takes you on is not on the educational but it also pulls at your heartstrings as it helps you to understand what women in jail go through, their loss is also our loss."

"What a great show! It's a deep, serious show, with humor in all the right places. I loved the "matrix moment." and you'll see what I mean when you attend the show! The two leads gave very heartfelt performances, but all 5 women gave outstanding performances. You can tell the director pushed them to step out of their comfort zones and it really worked. I felt every emotion they delivered and not only that, but the proceeds of the play are going to a great cause as well!"

"What a powerful show. The story of these women must be told - and the content could not be more timely. It's so well acted that you at times feel uncomfortable because it's so raw - you feel as though you are living these women's lives. Having seen a lot of shows in my time I enjoyed that this was a break from the standard - one act, 60 minutes with limited stage and props. Bravo to the whole crew, I've seen it twice !!"

"The characters are beautifully and touchingly recreated as American women, a little rough around the edges, tough yet playful, enduring and iconic sure, but also thoroughly recognizable as our sisters, our friends, our neighbors…The staging is electric, there is a rhythm and a choreography to it, like a dance or a highly complex fight.  The precision of this is perfect and takes nothing away from the stories that unfold... I highly recommend “Key Change” at the Secret Rose Theatre."

"A visual, heartbreaking and even funny hour that allows you to experience life in a women's prison through the eyes of five women. I was blown away by the choreography of the fight scenes and overall the movement that kept it alive the whole time. I for the first time in my LA theater life, wished there were twenty more minutes to spend in this rich world. This is also a benefit for a women's shelter so it's money well spent!"
