As the holiday season approaches, can a prominent family deal with the mental decline of their patriarch? Shakespeare's classic tragedy is beautifully reimagined in this emotionally poignant production.

I very much enjoyed the outdoor performance of the King Lear. Very impressive characters, professional performers and a great atmosphere overall. Unlike many other theatres, this performance made a lasting impression because of the complexity of the roles, natural effects in the mother nature and the interaction between the audience and actors. Would very much recommend the King Lear to all theatre lovers.

I was riveted from beginning to end! This performance of King Lear is well worth seeing. Carl Weintraub is absolutely captivating and then entire cast makes the play both accessible and enthralling! Go see it while you still can!

Family friendly, picnic worthy experience, the way Shakespeare intended: all of the drama, none of the high brow, over-our-heads academia allowed. This is a highly imaginative, entertaining and, dare I say it of one of the Master's tragedies, super amusing rendition of King Lear. The direction, performances and stage production values are of the highest quality (unexpected, given the modest ticket prices: $0-40!). This is a perfect intro to Shakespeare for all ages while at the same time being a thought provoking, novel approach for Shakespeare connoisseurs to gain a new perspective. A moving, tragic tale of power mongering, greed, deception, the cost of misplaced loyalty, and the difficulty of standing up for what's right no matter the personal cost. Reminds me of something in our current environment...hmmm...anyone? Anyone?

Wow! My friends and I saw this production of Lear over the weekend and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves . The performances are all largely on point, and the actor playing Lear was amazing, his hubris and vulnerability was palpable! This is accessible Shakespeare, Dean Productions has made King Lear followable and relevant. For the low cost of a donation you really can NOT beat the value, bring your family, bring your friends (bring a blanket). Don’t miss it!

For those that enjoy a play that’s been around for multiple centuries that continues to keep with its pace as well as to experience such a production in a “less-is-more” setting all in the great outdoors of Brand Park, this seek no further because here it is!!

A terrific production with a talented cast headed by Carl Weintraub as King Lear. and an interesting interpretation of the Fool (Jennifer Ashe) as Lear's deceased wife, which adds a further dimension.
The park venue is lovely, although rain threatened, and we had dinner on the grass before the show. I recommend seeing this show, you'll be glad you did.
