Based on the award-winning Broadway musical and the smash hit motion picture, Legally Blonde The Musical Jr. is a fabulously fun journey of self-empowerment and expanding horizons. The show's instantly recognizable songs are filled with humor, wit, and sass, leaving both the cast and audience seeing pink!
Legally Blonde follows the transformation of Elle Woods as she tackles stereotypes, snobbery and scandal in pursuit of her dreams. When Elle's boyfriend, Warner, dumps her and heads to Harvard Law School, claiming she's not "serious" enough, Elle becomes determined to prove him wrong. She crams for the LSAT and achieves a brilliant score, then crafts a glittery song-and-dance personal essay to dazzle her way into the school. Befriending her classmate, Emmett, and spunky hairdresser, Paulette, along the way, Elle shows everyone that books and looks aren't mutually exclusive. And as she begins outsmarting her peers, she realizes that the law may be her natural calling after all.
Following the sold-out run of You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown, the Morgan-Wixson’s Youth Education/Entertainment series (Y.E.S.) pulls out all the stops in this full-length musical extravaganza. Performers 11-18 years old from all over Los Angeles competed in a rigorous audition process to land a coveted spot in the triple-threat cast. The score is chock-full of memorable numbers, including “Omigod You Guys,” “Bend and Snap,” “Whipped Into Shape,” “Positive,” and of course the memorable title song. Recommended for ages 10 and up.

The delightful musical Legally Blonde Jr. is having a smashing run at the Morgan-Wixson Theatre in Santa Monica. Don't let the Jr. in the title deter you. Although the cast is young, they are remarkably professional and handle this most enjoyable, fast-paced musical with aplomb. Suitable for all ages, I very much enjoyed the show.

It follows more or less faithfully the familiar movie, but there are a few little twists to keep things interesting. Sets, lighting and costumes are all very nicely turned out. For a most enjoyable afternoon or evening, check this one out. You won't regret it, and you will also enjoy supporting your local community theatre and the dedicated, talented young cast pouring their hearts out in song and dance.
