LET’S TALK DANCE!
An Exploration of Dance – Culver City and Beyond!
Join Benita Bike’s DanceArt for an illuminating online dance performance and discussion on Saturday, November 14, 4:00pm. Videos of two concert dances will be shown with opportunities for audience members to ask questions and share thoughts with the DanceArt Company via Zoom. Register for this FREE dance program by logging onto www.DanceArt.org/nov20. This performance is made possible in part by the City of Culver City and its Cultural Affairs Commission, with support from Sony Pictures Entertainment and the Culver City Arts Foundation.
By exploring the “Why” and the “How” of dance making, the “Let’s Talk Dance!” program aims to demystify the dance art form. The company’s composer, director, and dancers will discuss their involvement with modern dance and explain the making and performance of two featured dances: “For Rose” and “Plugged.” “For Rose” is a stark and poignant dance touching on complicated feelings of love and death. “Plugged,” explores our relationships to the machines that occupy our world.
Benita Bike’s DanceArt has a long history of presenting dance outreach programs at community centers, art centers, libraries, and schools. These performances awaken people to the spiritual, emotional, and intellectual value of dance by presenting modern dance works in a non-intimidating fashion. The Company is dedicated to presenting polished concert quality dance not only in theater settings, but also in non-conventional spaces in order to share dance with people in their own communities.
