"Every show presented at La Mirada Theatre is worthwhile entertainment. NEWSIES is no different. You will certainly enjoy this energetic musical."

"Worthy of making headlines of their own, the talented cast and crew of the Broadway favorite present us with a show that is electrifying as it is newsworthy... Directed and choreographed by Richard J Hines, who is joining the theatre from "Come from Away," currently on Broadway, and paired with musical director Brent Crayon, the two combine their extensive theatrical experience for a show full of non-stop song and dance. You could simply feel the excitement from the audience, who exploded into applause after every musical number."

"Directed and choreographed by Richard J. Hinds with musical direction by Brent Crayon, NEWSIES keeps the fur flying with never a dull moment. Although the music is not the best ever developed by Disney studios, the dancing is superb and worth the price of admission. These talented and athletic guys do a bang-up job of channeling all of their youthful enthusiasm into creating a sort of perpetual motion machine. Congratulations, Mr. Hinds, for keeping the NEWSIES dance reputation alive and well."

"Keeping much of the original stage show's inescapable excitement and joyfulness intact, ...NEWSIES... is a wonderfully caffeinated jolt of a stage show, highlighted by a remarkably talented and athletically-blessed ensemble that leaps and belts one show stopping number after another. That's no exaggeration---the show had so many moments when the show had to pause for enthusiastic applause."

"Forget the movie! Fierstein's book is exciting and even considerably moving at turns; Yet if there was one ‘take away” from this particular production (although in truth there are indeed many,) it would be what incredible dancing this live theatrical reworking can boast (even the scene changes are thrillingly choreographed!)"

"Few musicals offer the excitement, romance, suspense, and heart of Disney's Newsies, and equally few are the theaters that can stage it as it should be staged, with star-quality leads and triple-threat newsboys to match Broadway's best. La Mirada Theatre For The Performing Arts and McCoy Rigby Entertainment prove themselves more than up to Newsies multiple challenges, bringing their 2017-2018 season to one rip-roaring, crowd-pleasing, standing ovation-earning finish."

"Unfortunately choreographer/director Richard J. Hinds' production has no sense of time or place...Hinds' choreography is lively, energetic and well executed by the large chorus of male dancers. But their jumping, spinning, cartwheels etc. more often resemble a gym workout rather than a dance break. The well-buffed bodies, with “guns” a blazing, are well displayed in the tight fitting and spic and span costumes by Maine State Music Theatre Costume Rentals. I am sure Annie, Oliver and even little Cosette would be extremely jealous because these are the cleanest and best fed Broadway orphans ever."
