He’s young, he’s broke, his landlord’s knocking at the door, and he’s just found out his wife is going to have a baby. To make matters even more desperate, Casey is fired from his gig as an Elvis impersonator in a run-down, small-town Florida dive bar. When the bar owner brings in a B-level drag show to replace his act, Casey finds that he has a whole lot to learn about show business – and himself. A clever comedy wrapped in sequins, "The Legend of Georgia McBride" features show stopping drag numbers with music ranging from Kesha to Judy Garland. Written by Matthew Lopez. Directed and Choreographed by Michael J. Marchak.

Written by Matthew Lopez and directed and choreographed by Michael J. Marchak, The Legend of Georgia McBride is a comedy with a lot of heart.

As the countrified drag queen Georgia McBride, Unger delivers lively renditions of “I Cain’t Say No,” and “Before He Cheats.” Michael Mullen as Miss Tracy Mills, Casey’s teacher in all things drag, is a showstopper. The character’s confident, carefree attitude is infectious, and her performances are as glitzy as the dresses she wears.

THE LEGEND OF GEORGIA MCBRIDE is a fun experience that poses some intriguing questions for its characters – amid lots of laughs for the audience members. Profundity isn’t its strong suit – but pure unadulterated entertainment certainly is.
